It Is Always Darkest Before The Dawn

Week 2 of the Arena Futsal League begin in a blanket of darkness! The floodlights failed to come up before kickoff & delayed the opening matches for an hour. Thankfully power was restored & what a night of matches we had.

Match no.1 featured debutants Balotellitubies taking on the Red Indians, who were looking to bounce back after defeat in Week 1.

An entertaining 1st half saw David Calvert and Matt get the goals for Balotellitubies while Moses opened the scoring and Arvind’s double put the Red Indians ahead at halftime. The match turned on its head in the 2nd half though, Balotellitubies coming back with goals from Dave Calvert, Chris Keay, Tom Kenrick and PJ to take the lead while Arvind hit his 3rd of the night. Full time it ended Balotellitubies 6 Red Indians 4.

Match 2 was the newly-registered FC Schlid taking on Hibernians. A fast start saw Schlid surge to a 5-1 lead by halftime with goals from Ben Horn, James, Fraser, Backx and Anthony. Connor replied for the Hibs. The second half saw Schlid add to their lead with goals from Backx and James while Stephen grabbed Hibernians second as it ended 7-2 to Schlid.

Our 3rd match was the hotly contested encounter between MarriedMan and goal machines Bone Soup. Both sides attempted to control the tie but it was MarriedMan who opened the scoring through Benny, Hairil & Izzudin to stun Bone Soup who scored through Kwa.

The ref had to step in to send off Juffandi (MarriedMan) & Kiat (Bone Soup) after a heated exchange. Thankfully halftime allowed both sides to cool down and the second half brought goals from Benny, a double from Hairil and Izzudin. Bone Soup hit back thanks to a brace from Jason Chew. Full time and a surprise result of MarriedMan 7 Bone Soup 3.

Our evening concluded with another cracker of a game as Russla’s took on Lost Boys.

It was an end to end tie as Anders grabbed a goal, Victor got a double and Emir hitting a hat trick for Russla’s. Unfortunately they were outscored by Lost Boys who got their goals from Ronald, Puva, Kalil, Suresh and a massive 4 goals from Taufiq put the lights out for Russla’s. The result sends Lost Boys to the top of the pile.
