FC Schlid A Whisker Away From Clinching Title
Matchday 12 proved a pivotal moment in the title race as Russla’s Hustlers took on league leaders Schlid at Pitch 4 in the 8am kickoff.
First-half goals from James Lord, Russ & Sam Ladbury saw the 5-man Hustlers stunned Schlid who could only reply with goals from Greenwood & debutant Sam Eatwell.
The much-needed break saw Schlid turn the game on its head as a magnificent 4-goal output from the returning James Kilbee while Sam Ladbury scored twice to complete his hat-trick on the night but it was not enough as Schlid edged the game 6-5. The result means Schlid are now just a point away from being crowned inaugural Arena Futsal League champions.
Pitch 5 featured 2nd place Bone Soup against Hibernians and Connor was in top form as he scored 4 goals in the opening half to put Hibs 4-0 up at halftime. Some deep soul-searching at halftime saw a more focused Bone Soup return for the 2nd half with goals from Justin, Lucas Keat, and Randy but it proved futile as further goals from Aiken, Connor and Billie ensured Hibs triumphed 7-3.
Another pair of tasty match-ups followed as Balotelitubbies took on Lost Boys in the battle to keep pace with Bone Soup at Pitch 4. Lost Boys held the initiative by taking a 2-0 lead at halftime thanks to goals from Ronald and Delvyn Tan while the Tubbies were reduced to 10 men as Chris Keay was sent off.
The second half saw Kalai score at both ends to see Lost Boys ease to a 3-1 victory and go within 2 points of rivals Bone Soup.
The final match of the night saw the bottom two teams face-off as MarriedMan faced Red Indians. A free-flowing game saw MarriedMan lead 4-0 after 20mins thanks to a brace from Riduan and a goal each from Hairil and Yusri. The attacking continued unabated in the second half as Riduan scored another brace and Hairil completed his hat trick, while Yusali also grabbed a hat-trick to give MarriedMan their 2nd win this season. Red Indians replied with a consolation from Faiz. It finished 11-1 to the MarriedMan!
